Former Roscommon manager makes a break for the border | Roscommon Herald

The Sligo senior hurlers have secured the services of a former Roscommon manager who will join the Yeats County’s set-up as lead coach next season. Seamus Qualter, who stepped down as Roscommon senior hurling manager after the team’s Nickey Rackard Cup campaign earlier this year, has joined Stephen Shiel’s coaching ticket. Shiel, a former Carlow senior hurler, has replaced Padraig Mannion on a two-year term, with an option for a third year subject to review. Qualter returned for a second stint as Roscommon senior hurler manager in February, replacing Francis O’Halloran who resigned from the role. He subsequently led the Rossies to the Division 3A League title, but they couldn’t sustain that momentum for the subsequent Nickey Rackard Cup campaign.
